Why shouldn't we throw dirt on Republican graves?

http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/13/rollins.republicans/index.html

Ed Rollins, a senior political contributor for CNN, wrote a commentary today on CNN that I think needs a reply. Since we can't reply on the site, I'm forced to reply here.

Mr. Rollins posits that because the Republican party has recovered with a vengeance before, that they will recover again.

While that may be true to a certain level, the Republican party will not survive as it is now. It cannot survive as it is in a world that no longer fits their idealistic view of "the way the world should be".

The Republican party thrives on pointing out, and obsessing over, differences between people and their mindset. They are currently ruled by the far religious Christian right minority and by mostly white elderly rich men. They promote fewer taxes for the rich in a twisted idea of the trickle down economic theory while having just presided over the greatest economic crash since the Great Depression and the worst war-time since Vietnam.

The party claims to simply support less government involvement, and less taxes, while the rich get richer, and the middle class are forced to become poor because their idea of trickle down economics only results in the rich thinking they have more money and everyone else just suffering with what they have.

They don't want to increase the minimum wage, they want to take away a woman's right to her own body, they think their religion should rule all things, and seem completely clueless why this mindset won't work in the modern world.

The Republican party may survive but it simply can't survive the way it currently is.

They need to dump the religious right, the leaders need to actually lead instead of capitulate to movie stars and rich moguls like petulant children, and they need to start relating to the every day person again.

Today alone, they are launching a campaign against Obama's attempt to force the credit card companies to live by rules that no longer screw over their customers. Which is frankly despicable.

Can you see the lies in this thing and the childish behavior? They could have launched an ad with ideas in it. Instead, they chose to attack Obama with things that they invented.

The Obama's dog was a gift from the Kennedy's, the $780 billion ticket was from the BUSH administration before Obama ever came into power, and so what if someone uses their own money for ringside tickets (people do have to live and its HIS money, the govt didn't pay for it).

So why can't we throw dirt on Republican graves? The current party deserves it and even needs it. Maybe they can dig themselves out of that grave but I don't see how.

I see a party split coming in the future. Its not dead (unfortunately few things ever die when they should) but its floundering.

The childish behavior needs to stop.

This is the perfect time for a new loyal opposition to pop up.

That's the way things work. Survival of the fittest. And the current Republican party isn't fit for survival anymore.

If they win, they will destroy us. We can't allow that to happen.

Democrats have never behaved like this after losing an election.
